General Line

This is Eisenstein's classic scene from his last silent film, "General Line", about an early Russian Dairy Cooperative. This is the scene in which the cooperative uses a cream separator for the first time to make butter. I have been commissioned by Grapevine Video to compose a score for this film, and I have chosen a minimalist style. In this scene, I use mallets predominately in a fugue to demonstrate the machinations of the device, increasing in excitement and intensity until the end
