Robert Carl Cohen was studying for the Doctorate in Social Psychology at
the Sorbonne on the GI Bill when he decided to attend the 1957 World Youth
Festival in Moscow. This video consists
of color & black & white photos taken while traveling by train across
East Germany, Poland & Russia, & during the Festival's Opening Parade
in Moscow through millions of spectators shouting "Mir e Drushba"
(Peace & Friendship). The sound
track is a montage of vocal & instrumental musical selections in Russian,
German, Hungarian, English & Chinese

1943.This unprecedented operation took the children, many without their

captures rare scenes of everyday life on the streets of Tehran in the
months following the revolution of 1979 — that somewhat utopian period between
revolutionary violence and the formation of a full fledged Islamic Republic
when a bright future seemed possible, if not probable
In this Tehran, we witness books carrying conflicting ideologies sold
openly on the streets, laborers debating as to the wages they have been
promised, and young men donning Arab garb to have their portrait taken with a
Yasser Arafat backdrop. We also witness extended scenes from three different
political plays, along with street theatre in a park where a performer imitates
various iconic pop singers, political figures, and even the Shah himself

Rome Reborn
is an international initiative to use 3D digital
technology to illustrate the urban development of the ancient city from the
first settlements in the late Bronze Age (ca. 1000 BCE) to the depopulation of
the city in the early Middle Ages (ca. 552 CE). Thus far, the Rome Reborn team
has concentrated on modeling the city as it might have appeared in 320 CE when
it reached the peak of its development with a population estimated to be ca. 1
million people occupying ca. 25 sq. km. of space inside the late-antique walls
and using ca. 7,000 buildings
