Hau Edward Petrovich was born in 1807 in Revel (now Tallinn) and consisted of Russian citizenship. " Engaged in painting since childhood and in the years 1830-1832 at his own expense he studied painting at the Art Academy of Dresden. In 1838 (or 1836), the St. Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts was awarded the title neklassnogo artist and awarded a silver medal. In 1854 (or 1864) by Edward Petrovich was awarded the title of academician perspective watercolor painting.
Is best known artist brought watercolors of interiors of famous buildings in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Gatchina, written by order of the imperial family, although it is known, and some portraits in his performance. In Moscow, he painted interiors of the Grand Kremlin Palace, Nikolaev palace in St. Petersburg - Mikhailovsky Castle, Winter Palace and Hermitage in Gatchina - Interiors Grand Gatchina Palace. Only in the Gatchina Palace, they were written, 59 watercolors, some of which are up to 1920 stored in the collection of the palace, and only then was transferred to the Hermitage. In Gatchina Gow first appeared in 1862 to create watercolor paintings with views of the offices of Nicholas I and Alexander II and continued to work at the palace only in 1874. Gatchina watercolors are especially valuable because the Big Gatchina Palace was completely burnt down during World War II by retreating German troops, and these pictures serve as a valuable material during the restoration of the palace interiors.
